To introduce students to the selected career and how the skills necessary are tied to school curriculum.

Students will interact with patients in a nursing home by bringing pets and books to the patients.

Students will take pets such as cats to nursing homes to entertain senior citizens. In this nursing home lesson plan, students will be able to take the pet, and read stories to their senior citizen friend.

It has been proven that animals reduce high blood pressure and lengthen a human beings life span.

The teacher will speak to the students about interactive activities and pets in healing peoples emotional state of mind.

Students will be encouraged to bring a cat to the nursing home with the permission of the administration.

Each student will work with a patient. If the patient will accept a pet, then the student will spend time with the cat and the nursing patient.

Other students may elect to read a book to the patient.

The visit to the nursing home should be an experience that will enlighten both students and the patients.

The teacher will explore his/her experiences with the students and receive feedback on how the patients responded to the animals and stories.

If the Nursing home approves of this experience, then perhaps another experience can be organized.
